Altyn-Arashan valley

The trekking tour starts near the pearl of Central Asia-lake Issyk-Kul, along the ridge Terskey-Ala-Too, along the gorges, which are considered to be the most beautiful parts of the world. On the slopes of the mountains grow juniper bushes, in some places turning into picturesque groves of Park type. Forth is growing spruce wood.

Above the forest area begins bright green Alpine and subalpine meadows with a carpet of flowers. In the Alpine zone already felt the cool breath of glaciers.

The climate of the gorges and highlands strengthens health and calms the nervous system. Climbing the gorges, you can go for a few hours from the steppe foothills to the mountain forests, then to the subalpine and Alpine meadows and finally to the Kingdom of eternal snow with bare rocks and glaciers.

You have to cross two passes, see the famous mountain lake Ala-Kol, and the highest peaks of Terskei Ala-Too: Karakol peak (5218 m), Jety-Oguz wall (5168 m), AK-Suy wall (5020 m), – glaciers and mountain lakes, waterfalls and hot mineral springs. At the end of the tour you will have the opportunity to relax on the coast of the mountain lake Issyk –Kul.

Day 1: Bishkek
Arrival in Bishkek city, meet your guide and driver. Transfer to the city and check-in hotel. In the afternoon after lunch a walking city-tour will organize, where you will be visiting an interesting sights of the city. Such as: (Ala-Too square, Osh market, Historical museum, White house and etc.)
(driving 30 km - 20miles, 40 min , 800m - 2650ft).

Day 2: Karakol city
Leaving Bishkek city for Karakol city by northern shore of "Issyk-Kul lake". On the way you will visit Burana Tower (historical minaret of 9century), lunch on the way. Upon arrival Karakol dinner will be organizing in Uighur or in Dungan family. Staying in guesthouse.
(driving 450km - 280miles 7-8 hrs. elevation 1800m - 5900ft).

Day 3: Karakol gorge 
Leaving the city for Karakol gorge, transfer until the first bridge, where you will meet trekking team and we start our walking until “Sirota” hut by Kurgaktor gorge. Camping in the tents. 
(driving 25km - 15miles 1 hr. walking 11km - 5-7 hrs., elevation 2500m - 8200ft).

Day 4: Keldike Valley via Ala-Kul lake
Leaving the camp for Keldike valley via Ala-Kul pass 3580m, one the way you can see all the splendor of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The lake has a turquoise color, 3km in length and 500m in width. The lake is frozen from October to May, from the pass “Ala-Kul Vostochny” 3860m great mountain peaks of "Karakol", "Slonenok" and etc. The height of which are above 5 thousand meters. Descend to Keldike valley and camping.
(walking 9km - 5.5 miles - 5-7 hrs., elevation 3200m - 10500ft).

Day 5: Altyn-Arashan valley
Leaving camp for Altyn-Arashan valley, this day you will walk all the way down, the path goes through spruce forest. Upon arrival you can enjoy bathing in the natural hot springs. Camping in the tents or optionally you stay in the yurt or in the guesthouse.
(walking 10km - 7miles 4 - 6 hrs., elevation 2500m - 8200ft).

Day 6: Karakol city
Leaving Arashan valley for city of Karakol, the way goes all the way down along the river of the same name. At the confluence of the Altyn-Arashan and AK-Suu rivers, the driver will be waiting for us. Then transfer to guesthouse in Karakol. In the evening dinner in the local restaurant.
(walking 15km - 9.3 miles, 4-5hrs.)

Day 7: Bishkek 
Leaving Karakol town for Bishkek city by the southern shore, on the visit to beautiful canyon, "Fairy-Tale". Lunch on the way. Staying in the hotel in Bishkek. In the evening farewell dinner will be in a national restaurant. 
(driving 430 km - 270 miles, 7-8 hrs.).

Day 8: Airport
Leaving the hotel for airport and end of the adventure.

Equipment:
To do this trekking tour you have to bring following items:↓

  • good trekking boots
  • a few warm fleece jackets
  • a pair of trekking socks
  • sunscreen
  • raincoat
  • gloves,
  • min 40 liter backpack,
  • sleeping bag (+10, 0 or - 5),
  • trekking poles
  • termarest or sleeping pad
  • hat/cap
  • and of couse a good mood =))

Luggage:

  • For this tour you have to leave some luggage in the guesthouse, which you will not need or use during the trekking tour. 
  • The porters can carry only 15 kg, it includes foodstuffs, tent, kitchen staff and etc. 
  • The Porter can take only 7-8kg of client`s luggage. 
  • The overweight will be additional cost 1kg = $1.
  • By the standard one customer one porter, but you can order an extra porter if you have camera with lens, special equipment and etc. You will need to pay extra $30 per porter per day.

Drinking water issue:

  • During the trip, in the cities you will be provided bottled water.
  • During the trekking tour in the mountains will be provided boiled water, because it is impossible to carry so many bottled water, first, it will be expensive, as it is necessary to hire additional porters to carry a lot of water.
  • Hot tea/coffee will be provided, except it, we will provide boiled water, however it is limited, limit is 1l per person.

Difficulty:

Trekking tour is suitable for people who have good health and physical training, the route consists of a long transition over the terrain, sudden weather changes and climb to a height over 3800 meters above sea level.
