Another of the most beautiful gorges of Kyrgyzstan Kegety gorge is located on the Northern side of the Kyrgyz ridge 90 kilometers from the city of Bishkek. In its scenic beauty it is very interesting and attractive for tourists. On the gorge Kegety flows turbulent river of the same name has many tributaries. The largest of them is the right tributary of the Kel-tor, which forms an independent very beautiful gorge, in the upper reaches of which there is a lake with turquoise water.
The path to the lake goes first along the right slope of the gorge, overgrown with spruce forest and continuous thickets of Rowan, honeysuckle, rose hips and barberry, which later are replaced by juniper bushes. Those, in turn, even higher pass into Alpine meadows.
3 kilometers above the lake there are moraines and large glaciers of Ko-Tor and Anastasia, well visible from the lake. Through the here the passes you can get into a nearby gorge Tuyuk such as and Kegety.
The trip to Kol-Tor lake starts from Bishkek early in the morning(From your hotel or guesthouse). Driving take 2hrs from Bishkek 85km south-east of Kyrgyz-Range.
Start of hiking start at "Kegety-Tur" guesthouse, the distance to the Kol-Tor lake is 8km - 3-4hrs. Upon arrival to the lake, you can enjoy the surrounded view and have lunch. After lunch walk back to starting point and return Bishkek.
